President leaves after two-day visit

A warm send-off was accorded to President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee at the Air Force station in Thiruvananthapuram international airport on Saturday on his completion of the two-day visit to the State.

Mr. Mukherjee, who arrived more than an hour behind scheduled, was greeted by Governor Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar, Mayor K. Chandrika, Shashi Tharoor, MP, Chief Secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan, State Police Chief K.S. Balasubramanian, and top defence and civil officials.

Memento

The Chief Minister presented a memento to the President.

Later, the Indian Air Force aircraft “Rajadoot” carrying the President and the entourage left for Tiruchirapally at 12.15 noon.

During the two-day visit, the President had attended the convocation ceremony of Central University of Kerala at Kasaragod and inaugurated the platinum jubilee celebrations of the College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram. On Saturday, the President had offered prayers at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the city.
