Mr. P. Vijayan, Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Kochi, has been posted as the police special officer at the Sannidhanam and Mr. Neerajkumar, Commandant of Kerala Armed Police Battallion-I at Thrissur, the Special Officer at Pampa.

According to District Superintendent of Police, K.K. Chellappan, a total of 670 police constables, 11 DySPs, 21 circle inspectors and 46 sub-inspectors, have been deployed at the Sannidhanam on Saturday.

As many as 400 constables, seven DySPs, 13 circle inspectors, 40 sub inspectors and 13 women police constables have been deployed at Pampa, Mr. Chellapan said.

Bomb detection squad

Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and Special Intelligence wing of the Police have also been deployed at Sabarimala. Police will screen the pilgrims before permitting them to enter the temple premises, with the help of modern electronic gadgets.

Watch towers have been erected at Pampa, Sannidhanm, Saramkuthi, Pandithavalom and Malikappuram.

Police stations

The SP said two seasonal police stations have been opened at the Sannidhanam and Vadasserikkara on Saturday.

Both the police stations will have a strength of 25 constables under a sub-inspector.


Two companies of National Disaster Response Force and Rapid Action Force will also be deployed at Sabarimala during the pilgrim season.

KSRTC opens depot

Kerala State Transport Corporation has also opened its seasonal depot at Pampa the other day.

The Pampa-Nilackal chain service will begin from Sunday.
