Pinarayi lashes out at CPI

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has lashed out at the Communist Party of India (CPI) saying the party still has the “hangover” of the earlier tie-up with the Congress.

At a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Vijayan said there were no ‘‘adjustment strike’’ as claimed by the CPI, and the party should make it clear on which strike they were aiming at.

The agitations organised by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the CPI(M) were called off after holding discussions with all concerned.

During the tenure of P.K. Vasudevan Nair and C. Achutha Menon as Chief Ministers, the CPI State unit had not follow the stand taken at the national level and it showed their affection to the Congress, Mr. Vijayan said.

Mr. Vijayan said the CPI(M) was of the view that Finance Minister K.M. Mani should resign, as the allegations raised against him by the bar owners were serious. “Our stand has been the same and we have decided to approach the court,” he said.

NCP’s stance

On NCP’s support to the BJP government in Maharashtra, Mr. Vijayan said the State unit had opposed it and made their stand clear. “We do not have any apprehension and they had taken an anti-Congress stand in the State while they were supporting the UPA,” he said.
