Pinarayi celebrates his birthday with Gowri

Chief Minister-designate Pinarayi Vijayan visited JSS leader K.R. Gowri at her house at Chathanad on Tuesday.

Later, Mr. Vijayan told newspersons that he invited Ms. Gowri to the swearing-in ceremony to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The nonagenarian JSS leader promised to be present at the swearing-in function if health permits.

A cake was presented to Mr. Vijayan to celebrate his birthday. He cut the cake and distributed to those present. Later, he had lunch with her.

Tributes paid

Mr. Pinarayi, accompanied by several other nominated Cabinet colleagues, visited the martyrs’ column at Punnapra and offered floral tributes.

In a brief speech there, he said the people had voted to oppose price rise, unemployment, insecurity to women and for development in tune with the times. He laid emphasis on strengthening the arm of law. Later, Mr. Vijayan paid tributes at the martyr’s memorial at Vayalar where he said his government would aim at taking Kerala to the forefront among States.
