Former Director of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) Jacob Thomas on Friday came under fire from the High Court in the Pattoor land case.
When the case filed by a builder seeking to quash an FIR registered against him by the Vigilance in the land case came up for hearing, the court orally observed that Mr. Thomas had prepared the report that was submitted in the Lok Ayukta in the same case on the basis of mere assumptions. The court was referring to a report he had filed in the Lok Ayukta when he was VACB Director. In the report filed before the Lok Ayukta, Mr. Thomas had expressed doubts about the genuineness of certain pages of the land registers.
His submission
Mr. Thomas who had earlier appeared in person before the court submitted that he had filed the report based on 37 documents provided by the revenue authorities. The case related to the alleged corruption in the shifting of a sewage main that ran through the land at Pattoor in Thiruvanathapuram before allowing the builder to convert it into prime real estate.
