The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will make available online services to all consumers in the State by November this year, Minister for Electricity Aryadan Mohammed has said.

The online services are being implemented under the Centrally assisted Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme’s (RAPDRP) IT project, he said in reply to questions in the House on Wednesday.

The Centre has sanctioned Rs.214.38 crore for strengthening the transmission system in the State under a Rs.10,000-crore programme worked out for States.

Replying to another query, the Minister said the Central allocation of power to the State was 1,433 MW. The State got only 889.98 MW till May due to a host of problems, including transmission problems.

This financial year, the State got 3,063.41 million units of electricity from the southern grid.

The State is getting only 3 MW from the Damodar Valley Corporation although the agreement is for 250 MW, owing to lack of a power corridor. The issue had been taken up with the Central Regulatory Commission as Tamil Nadu which applied later had been given the transmission corridor.

Minister for Youth Affairs and Scheduled Tribes P. K. Jayalakshmi said the Scheduled Tribes (ST) Department has identified 100 women in the 25-40 age group to carry out an awareness programme to check rampant use of liquor and drugs in ST colonies.

Minister for Industries and Information Technology P.K. Kunhalikutty informed the House that the present government had taken over 59.16 acres of land in the State as industries were not set up in the specified period.

In reply to a question, Minister for Finance K. M. Mani said the government policy was to commence branches of the Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) in all panchayats.

As many as 123 branches had already been set up by the KSFE.
