Few events at the State School Arts Festival could boast a legacy as rich as Light Music. It has produced more great talents than any other art form.

But, it is not often that this event gets an ideal venue.

Often more people would be seen outside the venue than inside it. The organisers of this festival showed that they could be remarkably unimaginative when it comes to using the little space they have. At the Model Boys’ HSS auditorium, they did not even bother to remove the desks and benches put there for programmes at the school.

“They could easily have put chairs and accommodated more people,” said K. Janardanan, an ISRO employee who had studied at the school in the 1960s.

The singers who competed in the HSS girls’ section were impressive. All of them were given ‘A’ grade.

“They all have beautiful voices,” said Ambalappuzha Vijayan on behalf of the judges.
