NSS to maintain equidistance policy

January 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

Kerala Congress (B) and its chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai, who had always looked up to the Nair Service Society (NSS) to pull them out of the political potholes into which they had fallen down in the past, may not find a helping hand to aid them in the latest round of tussle with the UDF leadership. According to sources, the NSS will adhere to its policy of equidistance this time over. “The relations between Mr. Pillai and the NSS on matters concerning the NSS are completely cordial. However, we would not like to be dragged into a political controversy,” they said.

In fact, Mr. Pillai called on NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair on Wednesday. He was closeted with the NSS leader for over half an hour but little progress was made on getting the necessary clearance in his fight against the UDF leadership, it is learnt. “We would not like to comment on his political stance,” the NSS chief later told the media.
