N.S. Higher Secondary School wins overall championship in arts fete

The Nair Samajam Higher Secondary School, Mannar, was declared the overall champions at the Alappuzha Revenue District School Arts Festival that concluded at Cherthala on Friday evening. With 216 points, the school emerged victorious in a comfortable manner with the second-placed T.D. Higher Secondary School, Thuravoor, managing to win only 86 points.

V.V. Higher Secondary School, Thamarakulam, and St. Joseph’s Girls Higher Secondary School, Alappuzha, topped the High School and Upper Primary categories with 100 points and 51 points respectively. The trophies were distributed by K.C. Venugopal, MP, at the valedictory ceremony.

Thuravoor educational sub-district came first in the Higher Secondary School (HSS) category with 340 points. Cherthala and Chengannur were first and second runners-up in the category with 325 points and 322 points respectively.

Mavelikkara topped the High School (HS) category with 300 points. They were followed closely behind by Alappuzha at 296 points. Cherthala occupied third position with 278 points. In the Upper Primary (UP) category, Kayamkulam occupied top position with 140 points. Mavelikkara and Thuravoor followed with 133 points and 129 points respectively. In the Sanskrit festival, Haripad and Thuravoor educational sub-districts won the UP and HS categories. Thuravoor and Alappuzha topped the UP and HS categories in the Arabic festival.

Group Dance: St. Joseph’s GHSS, Alappuzha. HS General - Classical music (Girls): Megha Sreekumar, St. Mary’s GHSS, Kayamkulam; Light music (Boys): Arjun B., Government VHSS, Kodamthuruth; Light music (Girls): Linu Thomas, SDV GHS, Alappuzha; Mappilappattu (Girls): Selja Siraj Aman, St. Joseph’s GHSS, Alappuzha; Flute: Vidhu Krishna, HSS, Aravukad; Chenda/Thayambaka: Aswindev, CMS HS, Puthuppally; Guitar-Western: Arvin Chris, Leo XII HSS, Alappuzha; Tabala: Arun T., Government HSS, Ayaparambu.
