New turn to rift in Communist Marxist Party

The rift in the family of Communist Marxist Party (CMP) founder-leader M.V. Raghavan in the wake of the split in the party took a new turn with the removal of M.V. Girish Kumar, his eldest son, as president of the Pappinissery Visha Chikitsa Society (PVCS) by the director board of the society here on May 11.

Mr. Girish Kumar, who is close to the pro-C.P. John faction of the CMP, had taken over the administration of the society on January 21 last by removing E. Kunhiraman, his brother-in-law, from the director board. The director board headed by Mr. Girish Kumar had removed four directors, including Mr. Kunhiraman. The others removed by the director board headed by Mr. Girish Kumar were his sister M.V. Girija, brother M.V. Nikesh Kumar and party member M.V. Kannan.

That takeover of the administration of the society by Mr. Girish Kumar was set aside by a meeting on May 11 of the director board as existed before January 21.

Mr. Kunhiraman, who is in the pro-K.R. Aravindakshan faction in the party, said eight of the 13 director board members had participated in the meeting on Sunday.

They included Mr. Raghavan, his wife T.V. Janaki, Ms. Girija, Mr. Nikesh Kumar, M.V. Rajesh, party leaders Mr. Kannan and Patyam Rajan. He said the meeting decided to hand over the administrative charge of the society and its institutions to Mr. Rajan.

Mr. Kunhiraman said the director board and the general body met on Sunday as directed by the Taliparamba Munsif Court, which had appointed a lawyer as commission. He said all the decisions taken after January 21 were nullified by the director board meeting. The meeting also removed the society’s secretary, K.K. Nanu, and appointed Mr. Kannan as the new secretary. The new president of the society would be elected as per the directive of the court, he added.

‘Violation of order’ When contacted, Mr. Girish Kumar said the meetings of the director board and general body were clear violation of the court order. He said he would approach the High Court to question the “illegal” decision.

The institutions under the society are the Visha Chikitsa Kendram at Pappinissery, Parassinikkadavu Ayurveda Medical College, Ayurveda Medical College Hospital, the Ayurveda Pharmacy and the Snake Park.
