They rise early in the morning at the campsite to rush to the training ground before 6.30 a.m. to undergo training in weapons firing, dismantling and re-assembling and bunker busting, among other activities.

Nearly 700 cadets of the 31 Kerala National Cadets Corps (NCC) are undergoing the tough training schedule as part of the 10-day summer camp at the Government Polytechnic College at Thottada here.

They enjoy it

The cadets, including school and college students, from six northern districts in the State, however, are enjoying the camp experience as the daily schedule includes programmes and classes.

The 10-day camp began on May 2.

Seminars on various topics, debates, counselling for stress relief, classes on lifestyle diseases and basic fire and rescue operation training by personnel of the Fire and Rescue Services are occasion for the participating cadets for some respite from the training schedule.
