Two of the accused in the Paul Muthoot George murder case on Saturday were remanded to police custody till September 8. The judicial remand of nine other accused was extended till September 18.
Ramankary Judicial Magistrate Subitha Chirakal ordered police custody for Jayachandran, who allegedly led the 22-strong “quotation” gang from Changanassery that had an argument with Paul ending in his murder, and one of his aides, Sattar, after a police plea.
The two are accused number one and accused number two respectively.
The nine others, who were among the 11 arrested on August 24 and whose remand period expired on Saturday along with that of Jayachandran and Sattar, were further remanded till September 18.
The police have so far arrested 19 persons in connection with the murder, which took place on August 22. These include Kaari Satheesh, who later confessed that it was he who stabbed Paul. The application to get Satheesh, who is at present the 12th accused in the case, into police custody, would be heard on September 8, the day when his judicial remand period ends, Deputy Superintendent of Police K.M. Tomy told The Hindu .
