The Special Investigation Team probing the Paul Muthoot George murdercase has re-submitted its chargesheet to the Ramankary Judicial FirstClass Magistrate court here on Thursday.

The High Court on Wednesday had stayed the order of the Ramankary court issued on December 8 returning the chargesheet. The lower court had returned the charge sheet, calling for further investigation into various incongruities and disparities in the probe into the murder, which took place on August 22.

The SIT, according to sources, re-submitted the chargesheet, without any major changes after the High Court order.

However, the Ramankary First Class Judicial Magistrate Subitha Chirakkal being on vacation till January 1, the official acceptance of the chargesheet (after scrutiny) will be recorded only on January 2.

The SIT, after a probe that took nearly three months which went across the borders of the State, had submitted a 300-page charge sheet, including witness statements.

Jayachandran, who was allegedly leading the gang of hired goons from Changanassery on another ‘murder assignment’ in Alappuzha on the day of the murder, is the first accused. Kaari Satheesh, who had confessed that it was he who stabbed Paul after the gang had an altercation with Paul, is the second accused of the 25 persons who have been charged under various sections of the law.

Om Prakash and Rajesh Puthenpalam — both known offenders with cases in various police stations in the State, had fled the spot in the Ford Endeavour allegedly driven by Paul just before his murder — are the 24th and 25th accused respectively.
