MPLADS: Kurien seeks transparency in project work

Transparency and proper reviewing should be ensured for the effective completion of various development projects, the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, P.J. Kurien, has said.

Prof. Kurien was inaugurating the MP’s Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Facilitation Centre at the Collectorate here on Friday. The centre was aimed at providing all details of various development works launched under the MPLADS, he said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha said that prompt and proper review of the projects would definitely give a boost to the development process.

The huge potential of the Information Technology should be effectively utilised in the process, he said.

Prof. Kurien said each rupee spent under the MPLAD Scheme should reach the people and the authorities concerned should take special care in reviewing the progress of work.

He also lauded the efforts taken by District Collector S. Harikishore and District Planning Officer P.J. Amina for opening the MPLADS Facilitation Centre at the Collectorate.

Anto Antony, MP, and Sabu C. Mathew, Deputy Planning Officer, also spoke.
