The Minorities Finance Corporation proposed by the State government for the economic empowerment of minority segments will start functioning soon with its headquarters in Kozhikode, Minister for Minority Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a get-together of minority community members organised by the Minority Welfare Association here on Saturday.

Mr. Ali said the finance corporation would help the underprivileged segments obtain easy loans and lead them onto the path of development.

The government would take steps to start special coaching centres in all districts to improve the representation of the minority community members in the army and the police, he said.

Syed Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari, chairman of the Ma’dinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya, presided over the function. Sunni leader Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musaliyar was present.
