The 95th Central Travancore Orthodox Christian Convention began at the St Stephen’s Cathedral grounds at Makkamkunnu near here on Sunday.
Mathews Mar Savarios, Metropolitan of the Kandanad diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church, inaugurated the convention in the forenoon.
Peter Ramban, Sleeba Ramban, Samuel Ramban, Yakoob Ramban, Paul Ramban and Fr George Mathew, parish priest, addressed the inaugural function.
Evangelical meet
The evangelical meet in connection with the annual religious convention will be held on Tuesday forenoon.
Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, Baselius Mar Thoma Paulose-II and his predecessor Baselius Mar Thoma Didymus-I, will deliver the benedictory speeches. Fr T.J. Joshua will deliver a religious discourse at the meet.
Joshua Mar Nicodimos Metropolitan will preside over the evangelical meet.
Mathews Mar Theodoseus Metropolitan will lead the holy eucharist at 11 am on February 1.
The annual religious meet will come to a close with a holy eucharist on February 2 forenoon.
