MES Mampad College, Mampad, and PSMO College, Tirurangadi, vied for the championship as the C-zone festival of the University of Calicut entered into its final hours on Wednesday evening. With a few more results to be announced, both colleges had secured 175 points each.
When PSMO College got an upper hand in off-stage events, the stage events gave an edge for MES Mampad College. Calicut University Campus was in the third position.
Interzone from May 8
The first and second winners of the C-zone will represent the district in the university interzone arts festival to be held at Malabar Christian College, Kozhikode, from May 8. About 4,000 students from six zones, including Lakshadweep, are expected to attend the interzone festival.
About 5,000 students from 120-odd colleges under the university took part in the six-day C-zone festival held at Government Women’s College and Government College here.
Large crowds witnessed competitions in Mapila arts on the final day of the festival. Competitions in Arabana muttu, Duff muttu, Kolkali, and Oppana had a large number of people in the audience.
