The district administration has urged the State government to post adequate number of physicians to conduct yet another special medical camp to identify and enlist fresh cases of suspected endosulfan victims, a pressnote issued here said today.

Formal letter

A formal letter seeking to avail services of requisite number of physicians and other medical staff was sent to the Health Department recently, District Collector E. Devadasan told The Hindu on Saturday.

Chairing a review meeting here recently to assess the issues facing the victims, Mr. Devadasan made it clear that the administration was prepared to hold the camp once it had adequate number of expert physicians.

The meeting had evaluated that the proposed medical camp required services of 45 expert physicians from 11 departments.

Swift steps

The review meeting held recently also called for taking swift steps to speed up works related to setting up of the proposed comprehensive and dedicated rehabilitation village for the endosulfan victims in Mulliyar near here.
