Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, who is also the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), will arrive in Kozhikode on Saturday to address the party's first election convention in North Kerala.
According to BSP leaders, Ms. Mayawati will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday to participate in a three-day campaign for BSP candidates, which will cover selected constituencies in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The programme scheduled in Kozhikode would begin on the Muthalakkulam ground here at 4 p.m. She would also introduce the BSP candidates contesting from various Assembly constituencies in the district.
“Ms. Mayawati's election tour will highlight the failure of national and regional political parties in doing justice to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, religious minorities, the poor among the upper castes and Other Backward Communitiesm,” Briefing presspersons here on Wednesday, BSP national general secretary Suresh Mane said.
He said the campaign would also draw the attention of voters on the “historical achievements” of BSP at the national level and in Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Mane claimed that the BSP government there set a new yardstick for good governance and pro-poor administration despite the anti-people policies of the United Progressive Alliance-led government at the Centre.
