PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, an accused in the Bangalore serial bomb blast case, has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of the charge sheet against him and further proceedings in the case.

"Mr. Madani filed the petition on Friday and it is likely to come up for consideration either on August 16 or 17," his counsel P Usman said in Bangalore on Saturday.

Mr. Madani's anticipatory bail application was rejected by the High Court last week.

A charge sheet was filed against him in the blast case in June following which a non-bailable warrant was issued against the PDP leader.

The serial blasts on July 25, 2008 had left one woman dead and 20 others injured.

Meanwhile, a team of Karnataka Police has been camping in Kollam in Kerala for the last five days to arrest Mr. Madani.

The PDP leader was also an accused in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts case but was acquitted by the trial court.
