Kerala’s youngest LGBTQ group Queerythm and KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival (MIQFF), South Asia's biggest LGBTQ film festival, are organising a day-long festival of award-winning and popular films on the Kerala University campus at Karyavattom here on Friday.
Screening of films that focus on the lives of the LGBTQ community will be followed by a panel discussion. The festival is intended to trigger a dialogue on LGBTQ issues on the campus.
The films to be screened are sure to offer a diverse perspective on LGBTQ lives through the lens of young and professional filmmakers, said Sridhar Rangayan, festival director, KASHISH MIQFF.
The films to be screened at the event include Dear Drew From USA , To Mum (Love, Me), from Singapore, Amar: Deaf is An Identity from Canada and path-breaking Indian films All About Love , Any Other Day , My Child Is Gay , Naked Wheels , Shehenaiiya , Physicality , Devi , Maacher Jhol , and Breaking Free (winner of national film award for best editing, 2016).
The panel discussion after the screenings will be on ‘Beyond Section 377 and NALSA: The Fight For Equal Rights.’
