Artists in Kerala can look forward towards featuring their works on a digital platform. The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi is all set to elevate the art market to the online world.

Painters, sculptures, cartoonists and photographers will be able to showcase their works on >www.lalithkala.org , the web portal of the Akademi, from September 1 onwards. Such items can also be put for sale through the facility.

The platform is expected to assist artists in reaching a wider audience. Their works can also be analysed by connoisseurs and other art enthusiasts from across the world. According to K.A. Francis, chairman, the initiative is the first of its kind being arranged by the Akademi for the benefit of artists.

Artists will be able to create accounts for themselves in the web portal, following which they will be able to upload their bio-data as well the images of a maximum of four art works each. They will also be able to replace any of the previously-featured items at any point of time.

It has been informed that the website will feature nearly 1000 nature paintings prepared by several noted painters in the State. Such unframed paintings are expected to put for sale for prices ranging from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3000.
