A Laksharchana was performed at the Maha Ganapati temple at Pampa in the foothills of Sabarimala on Wednesday.
Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru led the ritual that began after the Ushapuja in the morning.
Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala too witnessed a heavy rush, with hundreds of devotees from different parts of South India undertaking the holy trek.
Padipuja, Udayasthamanapuja, Ashtabhishekam and Pushpabhishekam were the important rituals performed at the Ayyappa temple.
Sahasrakalasabhishekam
Sahasrakalasabhishekam will be performed at the Ayyappa temple on August 20, 21, 23, 24, and 25.
The tantri and Melsanthi G. Vishnu Namboodiri will prepare 1,000 ‘kalasoms' in small copper urns and the Brahmakalasom in a golden urn on Thursday evening for the Sahasrakalasabhishekam to be performed prior to the Utchapuja on Friday.
The Onam feast (Onasadya) to be held at the Sannidhanam on August 23 will be an offering by a devotee from Changanassery.
Sticking to tradition, the ‘Uthradasadya' on August 22 will be hosted by the melsanthi.
The temple will be closed after the Athazhapuja on August 25, Devaswom executive officer V.S. Jayakumar said.
