The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is gearing up to reopen 29 beer parlours managed by the State undertaking that had been closed down following the Supreme Court’s curbs on liquor vends.
“Steps are on to open the outlets on new premises and we will be opening 33 beer parlours in the next two to three months,” Chairman of the KTDC M. Vijayakumar told a press conference here on Thursday.
Instead of the proposed beer parlour at Technopark, the KTDC has decided to open a sports bar for the techies as it has been found that a beer parlour will not be feasible.
Managing Director Rahul R., who also attended the press conference with Director Krishnakumar, said the KTDC would take up marketing of tourism products of the district tourism promotion councils and the Forest Department.
“This will help the tourism products such as adventure activities and village experiences to get international exposure as tourists are for experience-oriented holidays,” Mr. Rahul said.
A staff audit has commenced as part of a training programme for the employees to improve the services in the 29 hotels, including Tamarind brand, and 10 motels under it, the managing director said.
