The first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) outlet and the first Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) service using the fuel will commence from Kochi on March 22, Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran has said.

Replying to questions in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Saseendran said that fuel centres would be opened at four places.

The government, he said, had no plans to revise the minimum autorickshaw and taxi fares. RTOs have been designated to fix the fare stage. The government was aware of the anomalies in fare stage fixed years ago, he said. The government was planning to pilot the Metropolitan Transport Authority Bill during the current session itself.

The government would continue to mount pressure to lift the ban on night travel on the Bandipur route. Kerala and Karnataka were keen on securing permission for public transport vehicles to ply at night on the route.
