The Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) will strive to enrol as many as 10 lakh Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to its new NRI Chits with a view to mobilising ₹24,000 crore within three years, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said.
Inaugurating a meeting of KSFE employees at Sree Narayana Auditorium here on Saturday, Dr. Isaac said the amount would be a rich source to fund the developmental initiatives of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
“The KSFE, with a customer support of 35 lakh people, is now growing steadily with a turnover of ₹18,000 crore. We hope to improve the turnover to ₹36,000 crore by 2020,” Dr. Isaac said. He said the customer base of the KSFE would be 60 lakh by then, which would be a great stride to meet the investment needs of Kerala.
Expressing satisfaction over the warm response of the NRI fraternity towards the new NRI Chit initiative, Dr. Isaac said it would be a great financial support to Kerala and to meet its development goals through KIIFB.
He called upon the KSFE employees to study the activities of KIIFB and circulate its benefits to the local people. “The State government is planning to organise constituency-level awareness campaigns on KIIFB projects and its developmental goals for each region. The first such meet will be held in Thalassery,” Dr. Isaac said.
Each KSFE employee should strive to learn the technicalities of KIIFB’s functioning and explain it to people.
Explaining the employees’ benefits in the stages of KSFE’s growth, Dr. Isaac said all KSFE offices in the State would be upgraded with better facilities for the staff and customers. “He also promised efforts on the part of the government to conduct exclusive skill development programmes for the staff, besides facilitating international study trips to get better learning exposure.
