: The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) will consider the proposal of KGS Aranmula International Airport Ltd. for setting up an international airport at Aranmula, according to the official agenda for the three-day Expert Appraisal Committee meeting that begins on Wednesday.
The agenda says the 149th meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee for Projects related to Infrastructure Development, Coastal Regulation Zone, Building /Construction and Miscellaneous projects to be held from Wednesday to Friday will consider the KGS company’s proposal for development of a greenfield airport in Aranmula.
The MoEF papers show that the EAC meeting to be held in New Delhi on Friday would take up for further consideration the KGS company’s request for “finalisation of the Terms of Reference for conducting an environment impact assessment for the development of an international airport at Aranmula, Mazhuppaserry and Kidaganoor villages in Kerala.
The KGS company had informed the MoEF about the agency selected by it for carrying out a fresh environment impact assessment in Aranmula in the wake of the cancellation of the environment clearance granted for the project, earlier, by the National Green Tribunal.
