Kerala: BJP nominates district presidents

June 01, 2013 03:29 pm | Updated 03:29 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM

BJP State president V. Muraleedharan announced the much-delayed nomination of presidents for the districts units of the party in the State on Saturday.

While the incumbents were retained in eight districts, new presidents were named for five district units. The nomination of president of Thiruvananthapuram unit has not been made.

The nominations had been delayed owing to difference of opinion among two factions in the State unit of the party and the RSS. A panel of senior leaders of the party and RSS had been set up to resolve the issue, as the Central leadership wanted all to be accommodated against the background of forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. However, the presidentship of Thiruvananthapuram unit still remains a contentious issue.

There has been demand in the party for replacement of presidents of half of the district units. However, changes were effected only in case of five units. The new presidents are: K. Narayanan Master (Malappuram), A. Nagesh (Thrissur), P. A. Velukuttan (Idukki), T. R. Ajith (Pathanamthitta) and M. Sunil (Kollam).

Those getting another term are P. Suresh Kumar Shetty (Kasaragod), K. Ranjith (Kannur), K. Sadanandan (Wayanad), P. Raghunath (Kozhikode), C. Krishnakumar (Palakkad), P. J. Thomas (Ernakulam), Ettumanoor Radhakrishnan (Kottayam) and Velliyamkulam Parameswaran (Alappuzha).
