KC(B) to write to Chandy for Ganesh’s removal

February 08, 2013 01:20 am | Updated June 13, 2016 10:32 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala Congress(B) has decided to hand over a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy demanding the removal of K.B. Ganesh Kumar from the State Cabinet.

Addressing mediapersons after a State meet of the party here on Thursday, Mr. Pillai said a similar request would be placed at the next United Democratic Front (UDF) meeting.

Stating that Mr. Ganesh Kumar was not toeing the party line, Mr. Pillai said he could have taken a harsh position earlier but stayed away as it would be detrimental to the ruling UDF government. But there is no point in retaining a person who continues to defy the party, he said.

Mr. Pillai said his party had sought legal opinion to invoke the provisions of the anti-defection law against Mr. Ganesh Kumar if the UDF meet refused to remove him from the Cabinet.

A State leadership meet of the party to be held at Aluva on February 27 will take a final decision on the fate of Mr. Ganesh Kumar, he said.
