JD (S) demands CBI probe into Paul Muthoot Murder case

September 15, 2009 06:29 pm | Updated 06:31 pm IST - Kochi:

The Janata Dal (S), led by M P Veerendrakumar, on Tuesday demanded that the Kerala government order a CBI investigation into the murder of businessman Paul Muthoot George.

“Various versions regarding the case are coming out each day. A smokescreen has been created. There are discrepancies in the FIR and post-mortem reports,” Mr. Veerendrakumar told reporters here.

He alleged that the CPI (M), which was gripped by infighting, had levelled an allegation of corruption against former minister and Congress leader V M Sudheeran just to divert attention from the Lavalin case, in which the party’s secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, stood accused. He criticised Mr. Vijayan for 'attacking the media.'
