Online date for management, NRI seats extended to September 9

The Admission Supervisory Committee (ASC) for Professional Colleges in Kerala, headed by retired judge J.M. James, has extended the last date for submission of online applications for admission to MBBS courses 2016 for management and NRI seats to September 9.

The last date for online submission of applications had earlier been fixed as September 6.

The ASC has published a revised schedule following innumerable complaints from applicants and their parents alleging that the websites of the medical colleges were not available for registering the online applications for MBBS admissions.

After examining the websites, the ASC concluded that there were serious lapses on the part of the medical colleges in providing a flawless online admission procedure from the date of notification to the last date of submission of online application. This has prevented the MBBS aspirants in submitting the online applications, as notified by the ASC, through the prospectus approval order.

Revised schedule

The revised schedule fixed by the ASC is as follows:

Publication of individual application details on the website of medical college – September 10;

Last date for notifying defects, if any, by the individual applicants – September 11;

Date of counselling/admissions of first round of applicants – September 20;

Last date for second round of counselling/admissions – September 27;

Last date up to which students can be admitted against vacant seats arising due to any reason – September 30.

Prospectus approval order withdrawn

The ASC said in its order that it has withdrawn the prospectus approval order for MBBS 2016 admission to Kerala Medical College, Cheruplassery, Palakkad, and SR Medical College and Research Centre, Akathumuri, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram, following a directive of the Kerala University of Health Sciences.

KMCT Medical College, Mukkom, Kozhikode, has not been granted the continuation of provisional affiliation by the KUHS.

The ASC said that all the medical colleges for whom the prospectus approval order had been issued are to strictly comply with the above revised time schedule. Any MBBS admission made without following the due procedure, the revised schedule, the directives dated August 4 and the prospectus conditions shall not be approved and the KUHS will be directed not to register such admitted candidates. In such situation, the admissions of the candidates will be rejected after enquiry, as per the provisions of Act XIX of 2006.
