Jalanidhi Second Phase: State Level Inauguration on Saturday

The State level inauguration of the second phase of Jalanidhi , Kerala rural Water Supply and Sanitation project, will be held here on Saturday.

According to Mons Joseph MLA, former Minister for Irrigation, the Rs. 1022 crore project being implemented with World Bank aid will have the participation of the Stat government, panchayat raj institutions and peoples committees. The project, to be implemented in 200 selected villages in the State will be launched in 30 gramapanchayats as the first phase.

Unlike in the first phase of the project, the second phase will have less of beneficiary component. The local bodies will have increased role in project implementation and auditing.

The second phase, being launched at Kadaplamattom near Pala, will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Oommen chandy at a function being chaired by P J Joseph, Minister for Irrigation.
