Injured wild tusker dies

An injured wild tusker, which was found at Marod in the Sulthan Bathery forest range under the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (WWS) some five days ago, died here on Thursday. K.R. Krishnadas, assistant wildlife warden, said the tusker was around 32 years old. The animal was found in a wounded state after a fight between tuskers. The pachyderm had been under observation of the sanctuary officials, he said. Though medical care had been provided to it by a team of veterinarians, it succumbed to injuries, he said.
