IIFK: delegate cell inaugurated

December 02, 2010 07:18 pm | Updated 07:18 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The delegate cell for the 15th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is set to cater to a heavy flow of delegates.

More than 13,000 persons registered as delegates when the registrations closed on November 30.

The cell, inaugurated by Actor Jagadeesh here on Thursday, will provide services such as issue of passes and guidance to the delegates.

Delegates first

Delegates seemed to be the first priority of IFFK this year, with the organisers doing their best to make the whole process easy for them. Registration was mainly done online, with SMS service being added this year.

Ten theatres in the city will screen the festival entries. The balcony seats in all theatres could be reserved in advance. All seats in Sreekumar theatre can be reserved.

“Our objective is to provide the best package possible so that the audience has the best viewing experience,” said K.R. Mohanan, Chairman of the Kerala State Chalchitra Academy. He handed over the first delegate pass to S.R. Suraj, one of the registered delegates.

Jagadeesh was of the opinion that the international film festivals raised the expectations of the audience even from commercial films. “Such festivals encourage us, cine artists, to take the art of filmmaking more seriously,” he said.

He commended the hard work and commitment of the organisers of the IFFK.
