Idol stolen from temple

: The panchaloha idol used for the seeveli pradakshin at the Muthante Nada temple at Konchumada near Kumarakom has been missing since Wednesday morning. The 2kg idol, was used for the aarattu ezhinnallippu.

According to police, the burglary was first noticed by melsanti at the temple, Sivarajan, in the morning. For the past two days, there was continuous power failure in Konchumada area following the heavy downpour. The Melsanti Sivarajan and Keezhsanthi Aneesh, who stay near by said they heard noises in the night, but attributed it to the maintenance work for the service bus which was parked near the temple, police said.

However, they came out after some time only to see that the sreekovil was opened. They first informed the temple authorities and then the police.
