I am not against unions, says artist Waswo

“The entire issue has been blown out of proportion by the media and made to look as if I’m against trade unions. Let me say this, I am not anti-union. I hail from Milwaukee, a town in the United States where companies like Harley Davidson are headquartered and I grew up watching labourers making their way to and from the factories. I respect labour,” Udaipur-based artist Waswo X. Waswo told The Hindu over phone from Bangkok.

Earlier this month, a YouTube video showing him smashing up parts of an art work, exhibited at Mattancherry in west Kochi alongside the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, in protest against demand of excessive wages by workers set off widespread uproar against labour outfits in Kerala.
