Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that he is now being hunted for raising his voice against the existing ‘imbalance' in the delivery of educational, political and economic justice that he said is discriminatory against the majority communities.

Addressing a rally held here on Tuesday on the occasion of the reception to his 'Samathwa Munnetta Yatra' that had been flagged off in Kasaragod on November 23, he said that successive governments in the State had neglected the interests of the majority communities.

Caste and community sentiments were on the rise because of the imbalance in providing what each caste deserved, he said.

“When we talk about the need for justice, we are dubbed communal,” Mr. Natesan said adding that he and his family had been at the receiving end of a slander campaign since he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite him to a programme.

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan had levelled allegation against him that he was involved in misappropriating micro finance scheme funds.

Mr. Achuthanandan should apologise if the charges were proved wrong, he said adding that he would quit public life if they were proved right.

The Yogam leader said that both the Opposition and the ruling front were trying to malign the yatra. His name was now being dragged in connection with the death of Swami Saswathikananda, he said.

Suggesting that most of the youths who were ‘martyred’ in political violence in Kannur involving different political parties, were from the Thiyya community, Mr. Natesan said the people of the community had tended to be satisfied with the prospect of their names being used to name bus shelters after their martyrdom for one or the other party.
