The Assembly paid tributes to Chengannur MLA K.K. Ramachandran Nair and former Minister E. Chandrasekharan Nair who passed away recently.

Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan extolled the virtues and commitment of both leaders who had cast their indelible imprint as members of the House and as public men in their respective realms of activity.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described Ramachandran Nair as one who had the acumen to rise up to the desires of the people of his segment. Ramachandran Nair proved his keen interest in social, art and cultural activities by floating a pain and palliative care organisation and Sarga Vedi, a cultural organisation that promoted art forms in Chengannur, Mr. Vijayan said.

Chandrasekharan Nair was a leader who had made remarkable contributions for the growth and development of the Assembly itself. He had made notable interventions as a legislator and also as a Minister.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala reminisced his camaraderie with Ramachandran Nair since they were students at the Government Law College here and said he was a leader who maintained warm relations with people beyond political affiliations. Chandrasekharan Nair, he said, was a Gandhian Communist. Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan, Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani, A.K. Saseendran, M.K. Muneer, C.K.
