House panel visits INA

A nine-member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence paid an official visit to the Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala on Tuesday as part of its visit to various defence establishments across the country to study the facilities for training defence personnel, research and development initiatives, and state of present operational preparedness of the defence forces. The panel headed by its chairman B.C. Khanduri visited the academy.

A press release informing this said that the visiting members of the panel were received by Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, and Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P, Commandant of the INA.

They were formally briefed on various aspects of infrastructure development, training processes, and means adopted to keep training at the INA designed to suit the future Navy needs.

The committee members also visited various training facilities and support infrastructure, including simulators, seamanship trainer, training area, cadets’ squadrons, outdoor training facilities, library and technical labs, among others.

They left the INA for Port Blair, the release said.
