Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said the government will take firm action based on the report of the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) investigating the case relating to the alleged link between two members of the Chief Minister’s personal staff and a woman charged with financial deception.
Addressing reporters in the media room of the Assembly on Friday, he said the Opposition was twisting facts. “They have been inconsistent in their stand. After first demanding the ouster of the personal staff alleged to be involved in the issue, they are now asking for the Chief Minister’s resignation. The government, on the other hand, only wants the truth to come out. The two staff members were removed on the basis of the recommendations of the interim report filed by the ADGP on Thursday.”
Dismissing the demand for a judicial probe, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the investigation by the ADGP was crucial to unearth the truth and fix responsibility. He said the decision to remove two members of the Chief Minister’s personal staff alleged to be involved in the case was to ensure that they did not influence the investigation in any way. Asked for details of the action, he said the two staff members would be kept away from official duty.
The Minister said the government would go by the recommendations submitted by the ADGP after the investigation. Answering questions, he said the investigation would include all aspects of the woman’s acts of deception and her links with authorities.
