The Kerala High Court on Thursday orally directed the government to produce the documents relating to the sanctioning of new Plus Two batches in the State.
Justice P.N. Ravindran asked the government to produce the documents when two writ petitions filed against the sanctioning 699 Plus Two batches came up for hearing.
The writ petitions were filed by the Manager, St. Joseph’s High School, Angamaly in Ernakulam district, and the Manager, Noel Memorial High School, Kumbanad, Pathanamthitta district. According to the manager of St. Joseph’s High School, the decision to sanction 699 batches of Plus Two course was taken by the State Cabinet on July 23, 2014, and a list of selected schools have been posted on the website of the Director of High Secondary Education.
In fact, the government order had to be issued within 24 hours of a Cabinet decision in terms of business rules. However, no order has been issued due to “bickering in the Council of Ministers” over the issue. As a result, the list of proposed schools eligible for higher secondary courses had only been published.
The petition alleged that the name of the petitioner’s school had been deleted and the name of Mar Augustine’s High School, Thuravoor, was inserted in that place at the behest of a member of the Cabinet subcommittee.
