The Special investigation Team (SIT), probing the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor in Kochi, interrogated Sunil Kumar, aka ‘Pulsar’ Suni, the key accused in the case, in the prison on Tuesday.
The interrogation was held after obtaining a permission from the Judicial first Class Magistrate Court to question Suni in the presence of the jail superintendent in the Kakkanad District Prison. The interrogation was aimed at bringing clarity to the statements given by Suni Raj, aka Appunni, aide of actor Dileep, and Sooraj Raj, his elder brother.
During his interrogation on Monday, Appunni had reportedly told the police that he had known Suni for a very long period but had no information on whether Dileep had any links with Suni. He also confessed to talking to Suni over phone on behalf of Dileep.
As per the statement, Appunni had been with Dileep when Suni called him up on his personal number and threatened to mention the actor’s name during interrogation. He, however, denied having hatched a conspiracy with Dileep and Suni to assault the female actor.
The SIT is set to subject Appunni to interrogation once again in the later stages.
Remand extended
The JFM court on Tuesday extended the remand period of Suni and other accused in the case till August 16. Earlier in the day, Suni had filed a plea seeking to record his statement before the magistrate.
While being taken to the court in the morning, Suni told mediapersons waiting outside the court that more persons were left to be arrested in connection with the case. When asked about the involvement of others in the crime, he just replied, “Let’s see if the sharks slip the net.”
Meanwhile, the SIT is learnt to have collected the statements of actor Sidhique in connection with the case. Sources said the interrogation centred primarily on the rehearsal camp of a stage show in 2013, during which Dileep had picked up an argument with the female actor.
