Though people around her still seem shocked by what she had to go through on the night of February 17, the actor, determined to put the trauma behind her, has chosen to return to where she belongs.

According to sources, she is acting in an upcoming Malayalam movie, the shooting of which is progressing in Fort Kochi.

Support from all around

Her courage has won applause from all quarters. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, her co-actor in the movie, was the first to welcome her decision to move on.

The post, titled Courage, described the actor’s decision as an extraordinary moment of courage from an extraordinary woman in his life. “Today.. she makes a statement.. a statement that will echo through time, space and gender.. that no one or no incident has control over your life but YOU! A statement that will now be part of counselling sessions and pep talks around the world. A statement that you my friend.. are making in a million unheard voices!,” it said.

“My dear friend,” wrote actor Rima Kallingal on her Facebook page. “You are a true inspiration. The way you have handled this scenario with your intelligence, presence of mind and bravery is unparalleled. I will be a fan girl forever.”

Actor Manju Warrier too complimented her friend’s decision to resume duty. “This is the best message a wounded individual could give to society,” she wrote. “Like all Malayalis, I too am waiting for the day when her smile would lit up the screen brighter than before.”

Earlier, confusion prevailed over the actor meeting the media to announce her return to movies. Though a formal intimation had been given to the media, it was cancelled following police intervention.

Mr. Prithviraj told journalists that she would not be able to address the media for the time being. “I request my media friends not to lay an ambush when she arrives for shooting,” he said, regretting the error of extending a media invite.
