Funds for road work

A total of Rs.14.20 crore has been sanctioned for the renovation of two major roads in the Irikkur Assembly constituency here. An official press release issued by Rural Development Minister K.C. Joseph, who represents the constituency, on Tuesday said Rs.11.35 crore had been sanctioned for renovating 7.6 km of the Karthikapuram-Thalippara-Thabor- Thirumeni hill road connecting Udayagiri and Cherupuzha panchayats. A 2-km stretch of the Ulikkal-Koomanthod road in Ulikkal panchayat, which was part of the hill highway, would be renovated into a road having highway standards, the Minister said, adding that Rs.2.85 crore had been sanctioned for this.
