Four migrant labourers arrested

Four migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh were arrested by the police on charge of involving in illegal sand mining in the Valapattanam river here on Monday. The police have identified the arrested as Bachchi Sahni, Bablu Sahni, Vikas Sahni and Bablu Kumar. They were working for a co-operative society engaged in sand mining in the river. The police said the four were found illegally extracting sand from near the railway bridge at Valapattanam. Sand mining has been banned near the bridge. They were captured around 5-30 a.m., the police said.
