Former Kasaragod MP and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader M. Ramanna Rai died in a hospital in Kasaragod on Tuesday. He was 79.
Mr. Rai, who had represented the Kasaragod Parliament constituency in 1980, 1989 and 1991, died in a private hospital at 4.30 p.m. He had been brought to the hospital in the morning with old age-related ailments. He had abstained from being actively involved in politics for the past few years due to ill-health. His body would be taken to his house at Mulleriya near Kasaragod.
CPI(M) sources said the body would be handed over to the Pariyaram Medical College as per the wishes of the deceased.
