The Kerala government has asked Collectors and heads of departments to pay more attention to collection of revenue arrears.

At the two-day conference, which concluded here on Tuesday, an incentive was also announced for three districts which collected maximum revenue.

They will get Rs. 1 crore each to improve office infrastructure in the Collectorates and taluk and village offices. Results would have to be achieved by December.

The officers were told to permit the functioning of quarries without harming the environment. However, the practice of allowing multiple quarries at one place should be discontinued.

Mining

Mining of sand from reservoirs for sale should be resumed after conducting environmental audit.

The Mining and Geology Department should avoid causing hindrance to removal of earth and levelling of land for construction of houses.

Title deeds should be given to pre-1977 settlers who were yet to get them. Joint verification had been done earlier for this on the basis of a Supreme Court verdict, but some titles remained to be issued.
