Families of Tamil Nadu fishermen meet CM

DNA test results will be made available by Thursday: CM

Families of fishermen from Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday requesting the State Government’s help to locate their family members who have gone missing in the aftermath of the cyclonic storm Ockhi.

V. jude, his son J.Bharath, C.Raveendran, J. Joseph, Keniston and S. Jagan had gone to the sea on November 28. Their boat was destroyed in the strong winds.

Jagan was rescued and admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. According to Jagan, the rest of them were swept far away.

Their families headed to Thiruvananthapuram on December 2, after getting information that their bodies had been recovered here.

They have been waiting for the results of the DNA tests on the unidentified dead bodies kept in the Medical College mortuary.

A team of 25 people from Tuticorin met the CM.

They handed over a memorandum requesting for help. The CM said that the DNA test results will be made available by Thursday.

Fathima, who is waiting for her husband Jude and son Bharath, said that she came to Kerala with a hope of getting the help that she did not receive from the Government in her state.
