Employability centres will be opened at all employment exchanges in the State, Minister for Labour and Excise T.P. Ramakrishnan has said.
Speaking after inaugurating the employability centre here on Saturday, the Minister said the centre aimed at grooming candidates through skill development programmes.
Job fests
The employability centre, which will provide support for job seekers in the private sector, will organise mega job fests in association with private employers.
Job seekers will get information about opportunities in the private sector, including private banks and insurance companies, from the centre functioning at the district employment exchange. It will function as a link between job seekers and employers in the private sector.
Candidates in the age group of 18 to 30 years with minimum education qualification of Plus Two may register with the centre. Those with work experience may register if they are under 40 years of age.
Interested candidates should produce original education certificates, biodata, work experience certificates and two photos, and provide email id and mobile number for registering at the centre. A lifetime fee of ₹250 should be deposited for registering.
Employers may register the vacancies in their institution by depositing a fee of ₹1,000. Vacancies in the government sector will be handled by the employment exchange.
Help desks will function at both centres.
Training for competitive examinations will be provided for candidates who register at the employability centre.
Mr. Ramakrishnan said the government would open village career guidance centres to provide guidance for candidates in rural areas. Minister for Agriculture V.S. Sunil Kumar presided over the function.
