Educationist dies

Educationist A.S. Kuruppal died of old-age related illness here on Friday. He was 90. He started his teaching career as a Mathematics teacher at Augustine Akkara School, Kuttanellur in 1946. Later, he joined an engineering course at Thrissur Engineering College. He continued as a teacher at Thrissur Government Model Boys School. He also worked in schools at Wadakkanchery, Kunnamkulam and Thiruvilwamala. He won the State government’s best teacher award in 1977. He had served as president and vice-president of Paramekkavu Devaswom. He is survived by his wife and four children. Thrissur Arch Bishop Mar Andrews Thazhathu, MLA Therambil Ramakrishnan, Collector M.S. Jaya, Mayor Rajan Pallan, percussionist Peruvanam Kuttan Marar and others paid homage to him.
